Youth Councils 2012 isn’t that far way! From April 13-15, youth from all over the Chicago area will head up to Wonderland Camp in Camp Lake, Wisconsin for three crazy days of fun, teaching, worship and organized chaos. It’s going to be awesome!
The Youth Department (who plans that event) is in the middle of finalizing some important details for YC 2012, one of them being the theme. But before we get too ahead of ourselves, we want to make sure you have an opportunity to voice your opinion. What should the theme for YC 2012 be? In other words, what’s one issue you think we need to talk about for three days? What’s an issue that you as a teen face that you wish the church would talk about?
It could be anything: purity, peace, salvation, Jesus’ life, family issues, heaven and hell, covenant, sacrifice, Theo Epstein and the Cubs (not), etc. I think you get the point. To get your ideas flowing, here is a list of past Youth Councils themes for the past six years:
Based on 1 John 3:16: “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”
Based on Ephesians 2:10: “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Based on Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
I Am [Loved] (2008)
Based on 1 John 4:11: “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
Based on Luke 19:10: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”
Based on 1 John 4:17: “In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him.”
