Dear Metro Youth,
The time has come to apply for Band of Survivors 2012! Band of Survivors is a month long summer mission school that aims to see youth love God and serve their neighbors. With a skilled and motivated team, Band of Survivors will provide access to relevant training, significant mission and authentic discipleship for the youth of the Metropolitan Division. This summer will be our 10th year of the program, and we’re excited to see what God will do!
The project will take place from June 25 through July 20 and will be based at the College For Officer Training in Chicago, IL (700 W. Brompton Ave, Chicago, IL 60657). We will live in community with one another: working together, preparing meals together, praying together, worshipping together and serving together. There are essentially two parts to the program, teaching (studying the Bible, 24/7 prayer, cell groups, leadership training, Salvationism) and service (evangelism, youth work, supporting Metropolitan Corps).
We are not strictly a service team. We are first and foremost a school that disciples youth and allows them to experience incredible spiritual growth. Band of Survivors members are trained to use a skill set that puts them on a course for holiness, and they go home excited to fight along side members of their Corps. We have space for 14 high school students (ages 14+), 5 young adult leaders (ages 18+), and 2 young adult interns (also ages 18+). Accepted interns and leaders must attend a Leadership Orientation on Friday, June 15 (time and location TBD), and everyone must attend a Full Team Orientation on Saturday, June 16 from 9:30am-3:00pm at Metropolitan DHQ.
To download an application, head over to the Band of Survivors website by clicking the link at the top menu, or by going to www.bandofsurvivors.com. Those interested in Band of Survivors will need to fill out and return an application before Friday, May 11. Sample applications are attached here and can also be found on the Metro Division Bulletin Board, www.bandofsurvivors.com, at the remaining Prayer & Praise Nights, and Youth Councils 2012. We will also be mailing hard copies of the application along with a promotional poster. Youth should start the application soon because the application has changed, and is a little more involved than in years past.
