DUDE!!!! I'm dying here. FOr two different reasons, though! I'm totally humbled by this review, but Im also laughing at how inappropriate one of the lines reads if someone takes it the wrong way! :

"A couple of dudes, one bed, one laptop equals one hilariously fantastic time."

FOR REAL, CHANGE THAT!!! HAHAHAHA....

Seriously, though, man. Thanks for the shout out. Much love from down under.

Amen. I went to my first Ash Wednesday service this year and it was really powerful. I started researching the history of Lent (and specifically Ash Wednesday) last month and I found that the focus of the season really is mourning over our sin and rejoicing that a Savior came to take our place. This is the first Lent that I've given something up and it's definitely been a new, and much more spiritual season for me.

Sure did! But, I thought it would be for the masses to read. Not everyone realizes that we are the ones running from a loving God. In fact, I think a lot of people thing God is against them. Some don't know the truth that if we humble ourselves and return to Him, that He accepts us and heals us.

as i was reading your blog i couldn't stop thinking of how our dear loved ones came to the conclusions that they were glbt.
i had a friend who was gay and thought he was a monster, created by satan because he was gay.
when he told me that, i felt like i just got hit in the head with a soccer ball at full speed. it disoriented my feeling and ideas about being gay.
Yet, I think we have to look around our environment, world, and norms. By this i mean, how is our society's gender roles affecting this population? Does it start their? If a male is feminine, does that make him gay? How does that affect how his peers view him? How does that affect how he views himself when he compares himself with our society's norms?
As Christians and Salvationist, do we encourage certain gender roles that brings more confusion to this population?
I guess this is just another thought that has been in my mind.
Thanks for sharing Amanda.

I have to admit that this is a very touchy subject for me because I have many friends who are openly gay. Some are Christians and others atheists. But I really think you nailed it by acknowledging that your words do matter. Whenever I hang out with one of my lesbian friends she intently listens whenever I talk about my faith. I hope its because she is interested but I must keep in mind that she might also be analyzing my words 'just in case' I hit a spot of hers. I'm glad that God has convicted you in this area. And it is true, We are ALL in this journey, towards seeking God, together.

Sorry this has taken me awhile, I don't get on the internet much.

I believe that young people are pretty clear on what sexual sin is. That is not to say there may not be some gray areas for some people, but I never needed someone to say to me, "this act is okay, this one is not," and I don't think most young people need that either.

I attempted to address the "how" as best I could. The best vision or guidance I've received is to be honest. When we hide our sin, especially sexual sin, it owns us. And the enemy wins. That's why I encouraged accountability, because you can't have guidance at all if you hide your struggles away. You need relationships with mentors and peers, and I believe that is where guidance exists. That's about the best I got.

Also (and this isn't meant to be a cheap shot), you deplore our lack of vision and guidance yet you didn't offer anything yourself. What's up with that?
