I’ll Fight Day 2014 Is Just Around The Corner!

IFD14Clean

I’ll Fight Day is a Salvation Army youth servant evangelism day that will take place all across the world on Saturday, December 6th, 2014. I’ll Fight Day is a way for you to share the Gospel through practical acts of kindness: like giving out free hot chocolate, returning shopping carts or cleaning up at a mall food court. These acts are done “in Jesus name” for the purpose of sharing God’s love in a way that leads others to ask “Why are you doing this?”

This event is a local, youth-led initiative where you and your friends can decide how you want to serve others in your community. There are many helpful resources available to help you participate in this event. Instructions, resources and promotional graphics can be downloaded from the event website, www.illfightday.com.

The opportunities are endless for you to show the love of Christ in practical ways and help identify the Kingdom of God in your community. This is a great chance for you to join the revolution. I’ll fight to the very end! Will you?

For all you visual learners, here’s last year’s promo video to give you some ideas:

The opportunities are endless for you to show the love of Christ in practical ways and help identify the Kingdom of God in your community. This is a great chance for you to join the revolution. I’ll fight to the very end! Will you?

While women weep as they do now, I’ll fight;
While little children go hungry, as they do now, I’ll fight;
While men go to prison, in and out, in and out, I’ll fight;
While there is a drunkard left,
While there is a poor lost girl upon the streets,
While there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I’ll fight – I’ll fight to the very end!

25 Simple Ways Youth Can Serve and Grow in Preparing for Christmas

Looking for a resource that can challenge your youth to serve and get discipled during Christmas? Well this resource may be for you. Christian Tools of Affirmation has put together a 25 day-long resource that give practical ways your students can reach out to those around them, and at the same time, point them to Scripture. The best part is the instructions for each day are barely longer than a single tweet. Short, and to the point, each day consists of 3 things:

READY – outlines what your student needs for that day
REACH OUT – explains what to do with said things
REFLECT – provides an opportunity to meaningfully think about what the experience was like

It’s that easy. All the opportunities are relevant to a student’s place in life, involving things like social media and cell phones. To download this resource, click here. Thanks to www.CentralYouthNetwork.com for the tip!

Need An I’ll Fight Day Idea?

Is your Corps still looking for that perfect I’ll Fight Day idea, or are you looking for something to do above and beyond what you’ve already got planned? Well, we have just the right thing for you. Outreach doesn’t always involve a face to face interaction with someone from the community. Many times, outreach can be behind the scenes. The Metropolitan Division’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) ministry is in need of help for such an outreach.

You may know that our Division provides thousands of food boxes so that families can enjoy a nice Christmas meal. Before they are distributed at the local level, those boxes are put together at the EDS warehouse in Elk Grove Village. This year, their goal is 10,000 boxes, and the project will begin on Friday, November 30 and will end when they hit that goal.

Fortunately, EDS has been able to acquire enough volunteers for Friday, but they need volunteers to help on Saturday, December 1st (I’ll Fight Day!) and beyond. There will be three shifts per day: 8:00am-12:00pm; 12:00pm-4:00pm; 4:00pm-8:00pm. They have the capacity to operate three packing lines with 10 volunteers per line. Although they will be scheduling through December 8th, they may finish sooner and will notify you if the project has been completed by then. This is a great group project and they are glad to accommodate any size group you want to bring.

If you’re Corps might be interested, have your Youth Leader or I’ll Fight Day Coordinator hit EDS up by calling Meghan Pierson at (847) 709-6605, or by emailing her at [email protected]
